HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

What a great holiday for those who like to cook and LOVE to eat!

Get ready to see what the photos below turn into!!

For now.. enjoy this day!

Ahhh. Tuesday. I always welcome you with open hands! Knockout, TBL and a yummy dinner (which hasn’t been determined yet) 🙂

Take Charge Tuesday –

Make a list of everything keeping u from being your happiest. Commit to actively address each item in upcoming months. (Devin Alexander’s FB Status)

Perhaps this is something that I should be posting… oh say… around January 1st! But now seems like a great time too!

I’m attempting to jump-start the resolutions a few months early this year! In fact, why call them resolutions? It’s more like things to change forever! Bits and pieces of my life, that I want to do differently. Either, I know they should be done differently or I want to TRY something different!

I never really understood the whole New Years Resolution List?!?! Yet for the past 4 years straight, I have sat on the morning of January 1st with my pad and pen, slightly really  hungover, and I have made a list! A list from 1 to 10 with all the things I was going to change or try differently in my life! You know what? At the end of the year, I was able to cross off maybe half. It’s not like I didn’t try! But let’s face it, finding prince charming really isn’t in my power of things to do.. is it?!?! So with all of that being said, this year I will be updating, correcting and adding to my Bucket List. I have always been a list kind of girl. But I’m ditching the NYR List and going with the Bucket List this year!!

Are you planning a list in your near future?

Have a fabulous day!

Well. Kind of! It was a Newport Weekend (my old Home Sweet Home) … Lots of friends and yummy food with plenty of adult beverages 🙂

(Side note: I bumped into a few people  this weekend who said.. “Oh my, I love your blog!”. I just want to say Thank You. I write this and put up these pictures and sometimes think no one is reading it! I like to think I do this for myself, like a virtual journal of some sort, but I also like to think it MIGHT be helping someone else. I know I haven’t been very informative lately! And I have probably been posting way to many desserts… but I’m very happy that this gets read! Thank you to my readers!)

Now on to the birthday celebration! One of the reasons for going to NPT this weekend was to celebrate birthdays! There are many in November! Heather, Liz and I are all within a week.. so we had some celebrating to do!

Cupcake wine, Wedding Candle and a hand-knit pumpkin! From the pumpkin patch!

We headed up to the last Farmer’s Market of the year! Yummy cranberries…

the best granola ever…

and the BIGGEST sweet potato I have EVER seen!

(compared to the phone… seriously biggest potato ever!)

Mid-day starbucks latte and cranberry bliss bar! This bar is sure blissful! Did you know if you sign up on starbucks.com they send you a free drink card for your b-day? Best piece of mail yet!

and then it was time for dinner!

Scales and Shells was the place to be! Scales and Shells is a seafood restuarent located right downtown. The food is amazing, the atmosphere was nice and cozy and the place was packed. (Always a great sign!) We started off with some celebratory drinks! White Cosmos and a glass of white!

One of our friends aunt is the head cook at Scales so we didn’t really order anything… everything just kind of got sent over! It was crazy fun! Cod Cakes, fried calarmi, shrimp cocktail and sicilian little necks! Holy moley.. it was good!

and dessert! Tiramisu and  some sort of chocolate ice cream dish…also non-pictured creme brullee!

All of scales food is so fresh they just write the menu on a blackboard… it’s a always changing:)

I just love this black board concept! I’ve seen entire walls painted with blackboard paint! I think it’s such a great idea! Someday when I own a house.. .I will have a black board wall!

Heather, JoNelle, Liz and Me!

Finally found a Harvest Moon. I waited to long to purchase some on my own! Next best place to look.. my friends fridge!!! Thanks Boys!

Hungry Monkey time! Where else do you go after a night of drinking?

2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, rye toast and lot of liquid!

More of my crazy wrapping! I swear this is the year for some unique gift wrapping ideas… I can’t stand spending $ on things that are just thrown away in the end!

The comics, a few pages from the sports section and a plastic bag bow to top it off! It worked wonders and the birthday boys loved it!

The kiddos on Cliff Walk!

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so special!

Last night I had a great dinner at my favorite local Italian restaurant. A glass of red, Salad, bread (eek.) and broccoli with scallops and shrimp over ziti. It was great! Ate half, took the rest home! Was planning on skipping dessert… and then a few more glasses of red happened while sitting on the couch relaxing! Which then lead to a very blog reads and then I came upon this post over at Carrots n’ Cake! I did enjoy the different use of dishes too! But the cookies at the bottom of the post caught my eye!

Peanut Butter Cookies

All you need is 3 things!

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg

Mix all together! Bake at 350ºF for 10-15 minutes!

Easy at that! They come out really dense and moist! Which I kind of liked!

(Originally this recipe came from Peanut Butter Fingers )

Waitin’ on the weekend to get here 🙂

XOXOXO

First of all.. on a daily basis I check airline tickets to see if there is a miraculously cheap price to fly out and squeeze this one!

Meet Jack! Jack is the newest (well.. not soo knew.. he was born June 2nd! So kind of new.. LOL) to the Mahoney household all the way out in Oklahoma! I’m  happy that Sandra and I finally were able to Skype yesterday for a wee bit! I just want to hug and kiss this kid! Truly crazy how you can almost be right there with them through the internet! Now.. we need to figure out how to click our heels and magically appear where we want to be 🙂 Ok.. techies.. are you on it!?!? Can’t wait to see these guys!

Last night was The Biggest Loser.. did you watch? This season is not like the others. Although as people leave and the #’s get smaller there is more of a family unity thing going on! Last night we lost Jessica! It’s gonna be a tough fight to the finish. At this moment in time, I’m rooting for Ada! She didn’t get a video from home last night, how sad is that? That isn’t why I’m completing cheering her on.. I think she is a well rounded player on the show and is going to go far! Only time will tell what happens!

Dinner was fun! Home-made pizza! Dough from a NY bakery (Although I cheated and bought it at a deli in town!)

Ready to be put in the oven! Half was chicken, tomato, red onion, olives and cheese.. the other half was red sauce, meatball and cheese!

Eat me!

Salad. Salad. Salad. I haven’t been eating enough salad these days. Just gets sooo boring! Blah.

It was a fun and easy dinner!

Easy dessert too! Totally cheated on this as well! It’s a sugar-free 60 calorie pudding cup dumped in a bowl with 2 tablespoons of fat-free cool whip for another 15 calories, plus nutmeg and cinnamon on top! So yummy!

More fun finds I found this weekend in my parents garage!

My grandmother’s recipe box! Can’t wait to dig through this and whip up some of her amazing food. Side note: I’m hoping for things to turn out half as good as how she used to make it!

And a fun green bowl! I dusted this baby off and put it work!

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any directions you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” – Dr. Seuss

(found off a friends FB status this AM.. loved it.. so I had to share!)

Happy Hump Day 🙂

Let me introduce you to my new friend Bruno!

Freakin’ cutest dog ever! Well right behind Remi that is!! LOL

Bruno’s mom is Melissa. Melissa’s and her sister Jessica hosted a PCP on friday night! I was roommates with Jessica’s other sister Sandra during my college years! (PS – Bruno is not part of the title of this post! But I had to include him!)

Saturday we did the annual Christmas fair/Cemetery run in Stamford. Every year we bring the ‘green’s to the cemetery for those who have passed away in the family…my grandmother, grandfather, great-grandmother and great-grandfather.. all on my Mother’s side! It kind of makes me sad… but I’m glad that no one is in pain and all lived a healthy long life! Side note: My grandmother (aka Nonnie) would have been 83 today! RIP. We love you!

We also stopped at a dinner to visit with my Aunt! Ten months ago I NEVER would have posted the picture below!

Haha. It was a BBQ combo plate! I kept the peas naked and only ate about 1/2 of the plate! Crazy amounts of food! I forgot how good meat was.. especially ribs! My original non-meat wave started after viewing Food, Inc. I still think that too much meat is a bad thing.. however… it’s here for a purpose I guess.. right?  I still have mixed thoughts on the whole meat vs. non-meat debate! And at this time.. I’m not sure where I stand!

Sunday morning was the land of the junk! One persons junk is another persons treasure! I can’t stress this enough and after heading to the flea market, I’m truly a believer! I went the flea market with one thing on my mind… a coat rack! I did the google search and found a few.. but they were all so expensive! Once my eyes landed on this baby.. it was a dream come true..LOL

This works PERFECT in my house! And it was only $20! How great! Also picked up this number!

This is a 100% wool hand-knit sweater! The plan is to felt the above sweater and turn it into a bag! Let’s see how many years it take me to complete this project!

Glass bottles… could have bought this WHOLE table!

The dancing spoon and fork… would go great at your next dinner party!

or how about a rooster!??!

a scarf?

It was a great morning walking around amongst all the treasures (aka junk to some)!

I then went to my parents and dealt with some ‘old’ stuff of my own!

My old high school uniform!

and my bowling ball! I loved this ball. Purple and everything!

Jeans my mother had to place a patch on due to the fact of wearing them everyday!

and a Map! I mapped out all the colleges I wanted to visit on this bad boy! Who does that these days?!?! It’s crazy to think how much things have changed it such a short amount of time! Do kids these days even know what a map is and how to use it for navigation? I’m sure they all know what a GPS is!

I cleaned out my entire high school life and donated it all to Goodwill!

Mom made dinner!  Salad and Breadsticks from pizza dough.. baked on a stone to perfection!

and home-made sauce with meatballs! Yum!

and glass of Maritime Red from Truro Vineyards on the Cape!

One of the best parts about this weekend was finding a pair of PJ’s that I received for a Christmas present maybe in the year 1999.. give or take a year or two! See.. I was never able to fit into these PJ’s. I wanted too! They were so warm and fuzzy! Each year I would take them out and try them on! And each year they would be put back into the winter bin, cause I just couldn’t get the damn pants up! Well ladies and gentlemen.. I present you with my all time favorite PJ’s of the century!

and they fit! The feeling was overwhelming and made me realize just have far I have come from those cold winters about 11 years ago when I had no idea what a calorie was! No idea about calories in and calories out! No idea that if I watched what I ate.. I might have been able to fit into these PJ’s then!

I’m on the path, journey, road.. (whatever you may call it)… and there is NO going back to the year 1999 for this chick!

Happy Monday People 🙂

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

Not sure about you.. but this has been one LONG week.

Looking forward to the weekend for sure 🙂

This crazy warm weather we are having today… kind of reminds me of summer adventures!

However.. sooner rather then later.. we will be faced with adventures a bit more winter like!

And before we know it.. we will be placing presents under the tree again!

I’ve been scouring through photos and quotes for my annual Christmas Calendar! I’m addicted to the quote below!

So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable. – Christopher Reeve

I love this quote! It was the status on a friend’s FB page a few months ago and I’ve been obsessed ever since. This could mean so many different things to people. What does it mean to you?

Have a great Friday!

Every now and again you just need to STOP and smell the roses. Or in my case, STOP and gaze at the amazing tree that lives behind my office building that I have seemed to miss for the past 3 months!

Like a diamond in the rough!

What a perfect lunch break 🙂 (um… it’s starting to look like all the celebratory dinners and eating my way through cities is catching up with me! Kickboxing and a healthy dinner are in my near future!)

I just want to take this tree home with me forever!

Hope you are all having an amazing Thursday afternoon 🙂

Knockout, home-made dinner and TBL night!

Fajita Beef Stew

  • 2 – 1/2 lbs. boneless beef top round steak
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 14 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 oz. envelope fajita seasoning mix
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1″ pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1″ pieces
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water

Trim excess fat from beef and cut into 2″ pieces. Combine onion & garlic into a 4-5 quart slow cooker. Mix seasoning mix and undrained tomatoes and pour over beef. Place peppers on top. Cover crockpot and cook on low for 7-9 hours until beef is tender. Side note: I have a 6 or 8 quart crockpot… the food cooked much quicker!

Combine flour with water in a small bowl and stir well. Add gradually to crockpot. Cover slow cooker and cook on high for 15-20 minutes until thickened.

I made one of these mexican rice mixes! Next time I’ll do regular brown rice!

This was one easy meal! Wonderful for a busy Tuesday night 🙂

A side salad and a glass of Fat Cat Pinot Giorgio! What a perfect meal for a cold night 🙂

Big News in the Coffee Department

The Keurig has died.. and has been replaced with a French Press. I feel in love with the French Press while I was in Newport a few weeks ago…. posted here! I’m super excited to make a huge cup of coffee in the morning!

Good bye Keurig… HELLO French Press!

Be sure to check out the 1st post of the Philly Adventure here.

After an amazing tour of the Mosaic Gardens in South Philly we head over to Termini Brothers. Termini’s is this outrageous Pastry shop in South Philadelphia. They had mini chocolate mousse, carrot cakes, peanut butter bars, fresh filled cannoli’s.. the list goes on and on!

My favorite purchase here was  a piece of Torrone. Torrone is an Italian nougat filled with almonds and pistachio nuts.  Termini’s hand-makes this Italian nougat candy from an original family recipe that dates back to the early 1900’s. “When we say original family recipe, we mean just that. Not only do we still make our torrone by hand, we still use the special bowls and pans that our grandfather used just for this purpose. This stuff was to die for!! and they ship 🙂

It was then  Philly Cheese Steak Time! Geno’s VS. Pat’s

Geno’s Won this time! But we will be back for round #2 very soon!

Can’t visit Philly and not a pretzel! I learn that  everyday students in school have the opportunity to get a pretzel! I want to live in Philly.. pretzels everyday sounds great to me!

Jo dipping a pretzel in cheese whizz. I have never had more cheese whizz in my entire life. LOL

One last stop to make! Nifty Fifty’s! This place says 50’s all over it!

100’s of different soda pop flavors to choose from!

and many different milkshake options to pick from! Below is a pumpkin pie shake and crab fries! (Fries with old bay seasonings on them!)

At this point we were all SOOO full, but we had to go for the experience! It was fun to sit and color these hats!

And give ourselves tattoos! Yup.. we haven’t grown up quite yet.. but it’s all good!

Sr. Mary Anthony  is a 6th grade teacher in Philadelphia. Her convent is located within steps of her school, so we got to walk the halls and look around! Once I stepped foot in her classroom I had this awesome feeling! The Cube VS Classroom battle began again in my head! I know I’m truly suppose to be in the classroom, and someday, hopefully someday soon when I’m 100% ready…  I’ll be in one!

NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS THAN YOUR BEST!

No matter what area in my life I’m dealing with at the moment I’m going to keep this saying in my head!

Have a wonderful day!

Excited for a crock-pot creation today.. stayed tuned 🙂 I promise back to healthy recipes!! LOL

Oh.. and I somehow ended up in Rockefeller Center while attempting to bring Jo Anne home!

Go figure… I NEVER know where I’m going to end up!  🙂

NEVER SETTLE FOR LESS THAN YOUR BEST!
