Ok. So this was a race that kind of just happened. A friend of a friend asked if I would be interested in doing the 1 mile walk portion of  Hope for the Warriors road race. ‘The Run For The Warriors® is a unique event dedicated to the men and women wounded in the global war on terror and their families. It is a celebration of their strength and resolve as well as the Welcome Home they never received. By uniting the entire community, military and civilian alike, this event embraces Wounded Warriors and their families in the shared belief that there is hope beyond recovery.’ I thought why not.. it’s only a mile..plus I will get to see what a real race is like and help out a good cause. Long story short.. I had so much fun!

When I got there I had to find the registration booth. I found the booth successfully and scored my 1st road race t-shirt!

I then happened upon these two!

Meet Mike and Jess! Mike even put on his t-shirt.. Go Mike:)

We walked around for a bit, checked out all the different booths, post-massages, water stations, an orange and banana station and a few others we never got to 😦 Luckily we bummed into these two! (We were looking for them the whole time!!)

Meet Keith and Danielle! The ‘real’ runners… look at that they even got numbers!

Mike and I decided it would be a great idea to run this race next year! Hmm… 12 months to train for a 10k. I think that is doable 🙂

Keith and Danielle did awesome! Hopefully in the near future.. I’ll be posting photos of me running to the finish line. For now I leave you with this!

Haha… It can only get better from here… right!?!?!

What a weekend! First things first! I met up with one of my friends Samantha… we will refer to her as Sam from here on in:) We agreed to meet in Stamford CT for this get together! I have never had the opportunity to explore Stamford before, so it was great fun! We met at Lord and Taylor, one of my favorite stores 🙂 We then headed to the Town Center .. stores and stores.. oh my! We ended up at the GAP, Banana Republic and a few others! After hours or shopping it was time to stop for lunch. We decided on California Pizza Kitchen.. I love this place!

Pictured here… a Blue Moon! What could be better after a long morning of shopping :0)

Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza!

Caramelized pears, Gorgonzola, Fontina and Mozzarella cheeses, caramelized sweet onions and chopped hazelnuts. Topped with field greens tossed in Gorgonzola ranch dressing. This was the best pizza I have had in a long time! I got it on the whole wheat pizza shell.. which totally completed the pizza!

Still working on the timer shots! This was the best out of 5.. LOL!

The whole time we were shopping, Sam kept pulling out these re-usable bags. I was a bit jealous, as I  forgot mine never thought to bring a re-usable bag to the mall! I ended up buying a re-usable bag from the GAP for 2 bucks! Which was totally worth it! We ended up at OLD NAVY.. and Sam whipped out this!

It’s a usable bag her sister created when she realized she had a surplus of Bible Camp T-shirts left over! I loved it!

The bag is bascially a t-shirt with the arms out off and the bottom sewn together! What a great idea 🙂

It was so good to catch up with Sam this weekend!

Look out tomorrow, for the 1st race I ran walked in! There is only going up from here!

Well today was the first day of school for me in over 5 years. Yes people.. you read that right! I graduated with a degree in elementary education in May of 2005. It is now August of 2010 and I went back :0) I went to the orientation and did all that ‘stuff’ last week! I was ready. I was nervous. How bad could it really be? I learned one thing again today. A thing I relearn upon entering any type of class. Whether it be a zumba class, knitting class, political science class, math class or an art class… it ALL comes down to the teacher! My first class was a joke. I’m hoping for a 360 here and next week it will rock. One plus from this class… I need to buy $65 markers instead of a text-book. Go figure! I think I’m looong overdue for a class involving many different types, sizes and toxic fumes of markers! BRING. IT. ON. As for the teacher.. well.. um.. he is a nice guy! Enough said. Now I went into my 2nd class mad and angry. Why was I wasting all my time and money? To come and ‘hang out’ with a bunch of teenagers who thought they where the shiiiit.  I told myself, get through the next 2.5 hours, you can withdrawal and get all your money back. Maybe my brother was right and Yale was the place for me.. not this silly art school! LOL (He didn’t quit put it that way!) I’m sitting there waiting and waiting.. since when do teachers and students alike show up with only 3  minutes to spare on the clock before class starts. If I remember correctly from oh.. say a week ago.. we are supposed to be on time, every time! Oh. boy. Well… I’m sitting there and boom. I’m in love!. This is an intro to computer graphic course. ALL DONE ON MACS. I have a mac. I begged and pleaded with my parents about a year and a half ago. Well… a year later I’m finally using it for what it is meant to be used for:) I love this class. I love it’s all on computers. I love the teacher. She is a sassy english/irish lady with an accent when saying ‘r’ sounds like oar! I told her my story. I have been out of school for 5 years. Just re-entering.. can you please show me how to turn the computer on? She helped guide me every step of that 2.5 hour class. I never felt lost, frazzled or mad that I waited so long to re-enter the academia world! Let’s say.. It’s ALL in the teacher! Can’t wait till next Wednesday at 3 o’clock.. although I’m giving the marker guy one more chance :0)

I now have some crazy looking bedroom colored walls. Let’s say… sunset meets nectarine. Or more simply ORANGE! I woke up this morning in my spare room.. as my bed was full of ‘stuff’ at 11pm last night and there was no way I was going to clean it off! Normally I’m good in the morning. Not great.. but good. I’m not a morning person at all. I try to be. I really want to be.. but there are some things you just can’t change in life. So.. I woke up.. opened my eyes and then happily remembered my room is now a different color. I ran to my freshly painted bedroom and was wonderfully surprised. I LOVE my new room. It still has a coat of paint to go… and by tonight I might even love it a bit more! I left my brightly painted orange room with a huge smile on my face. Now.. I’m wondering if that smile will resurface every morning I wake up and open my eyes to a brightly painted orange room.. or is it because it’s something new! I will keep you posted and I’m hoping it is truly the latter! Perhaps I can become a morning person:)

The perfect sunrise! Newport, RI (My walls now look very similar!)

I read blogs daily! I read a few different blogs daily! I have oooooed and ahhhed at many different blogging/healthy living conferences/summits around the country daily! Apparently I have so much time daily to do these things… YET… I don’t blog! I want too. I really do! Not quite sure what I’m so scared about! Perhaps it’s the spelling or the punctuation. Of the lack of those creatively put together huge enormous words. I’m a simple girl. I like simple words. Is there something so wrong with that! So here we go for the umpteenth time!
